Portrait: Tyrone's Baby Picture

My friend Tyrone (now in his 50's)  asked me to do the 18"x24" portrait from his baby picture.  He is African-American.  It was done in my home studio.  Art Prints of this prestige portrait are not available as it is in a private collection.

annawithdoll.jpg
Portrait: Anna Gertrude with Doll

This portrait of my mother was done from a  black and white photo taken by my grandfather.  This artwork was done very early in my art career in the mid 1970's.  My mother hated having her picture taken.  Only a portion of the original picture was used for the artwork.  Art Prints of this prestige portrait are available.

Custom Portraits                                            Portraits from a photograph require you to carefully select a photo and then decide what you want to do with it. You may have similar old photos  with sentimental value you would like to turn into a piece of artwork as Tyrone's Baby Picture and "Anna Gertrude With Doll" were.   This can be done as charcoal drawings, in sepia tones (browns) for an antique look or in full color such as "My Aunt Ruth" (C1, Portraits of People from a Photograph -- look in Portrait Gallery). You must decide what you want to order to get a prestige portraits' look. You always must decide what part of the photo you want to use, whether or not the photo is in color.
If you go into the gallery you will see prestige portraits ranging from infants and young children to young adults and prestige senior portraits such as "Jammin'", "The Seamstress", and "Harvey". There is also a wide range of skin color and ethnic background in the portraits. Often skin color is not true in a photograph and it needs to be compared to the subject and clarified.
Size of the completed portraits for 1 head is 18" x 24", 2 heads, 19 1/2 x 25".  Small sizes are available on request
Prestige pet portraits are also available, see "Pets" in Gallery.

Portrait: The Temper Tantrum

A professional photographers model who used to go to my church gave me this photo of her daughter taken at a photo shoot.  I made this portrait in my home studio one evening in 2003 for a one man show.  She is African-American. Art Prints of this prestige portrait are available.

jammin.jpg
Portrait: Jammin'

"Jammin'"is the most recent of three prestige senior portraits completed over the last few years of John playing the clarinet.  I also did a prestige senior portrait of him as an artist.  John is a semi-retired professsional photographer.  He suffers from multiple sclerosis and walks with 2 canes.  He still does photo shoots as well as working as an artist model.  Art Prints of this prestige senior portrait are available.
